Can I redact a whole folder at once?
Yes. Matches are found across the folder, shown per document, and removed in one pass, with each file's result reported separately.

A black box over a number is not a redaction.
Draw a rectangle in most editors and the digits are still in the file — selectable, searchable, copy-pasteable. Oxofolio removes the text itself, draws the mark as evidence of the removal, and then reads the finished document back to confirm nothing survived.

Why this is worth a tool at all.
This is the failure that reaches a newspaper. A redacted document is published, someone selects the text under the black bars, and the names are all there. It has happened to courts, to governments and to law firms, and every time the tool did exactly what it was asked — it drew a rectangle.
The danger is not the un-redacted document. It is the one that looks handled, because nobody will look at it twice.

How it works
What removal actually means here.

The boundaries
What it will not do.
- No page without a text layer is redacted. It is refused and routed to OCR, because a rectangle over a scan is exactly the false comfort this feature exists to prevent.
- Black and opaque, always. No colour, no transparency, no “highlight” styling that could be mistaken for a redaction.
- The original is never modified. Redacted copies are written beside it.
Why the limits are on the page
A tool that claims everything is a tool nobody can check. Each of these is a decision rather than a gap, and stating them here means the download contains exactly what this page described.

What if the verification fails?
The file is reported as failed rather than written out as done. A silent partial success is the one outcome this design refuses to produce.
Does it remove document metadata too?
It can, in the same pass — author, producing software, previous titles, revision history and embedded JavaScript.
Is this the same as flattening the PDF?
No. Flattening turns the page into a picture, which destroys the text layer everywhere and makes the document unsearchable. This removes only what you selected.
